All fireline personnel have responsibility to act as a lookout for safety hazards, fire behaviour indicators. A dedicated lookout may also be designated, if conditions require it.
An anchor point is an relatively fuel-free point from which to begin fire control line development. All fire suppression actions should begin from an anchor point.
Effective communications must be in place at all times. Working without communications is not allowed.
A pre-planned area of refuge from heat, smoke, flame and other fireline hazards for personnel and equipment. Must be know to all personnel.
A pre-planned route from the fireline to a safety zone. There must always be at least two escape routes. All personnel must known the escape routes. Escape routes should be flagged, trimmed/ brushed.
